About Me

Welcome to Miss Habits!!  If you haven't been guessed by now, my goal is to become the best me I can be by tackling one habit a week starting.  So, if you are like me and have hard time sticking to rigorous diets, exercise plans, goals, or New Years resolutions, I hope you will consider joining my journey and implementing the habits each week into your own life.

My story:
Oh, where to start??  I am a 38 year old working mother of two kids and one amazing husband.  My children and I are all in the performing arts and my husband is in marketing/media.  He is the one to thank for the awesome logo design!  Our families performance schedule makes life crazy and wonderful.  Besides performing, we all love to travel together including regular visits to Hawaii to see family and going to Moab, UT for rock crawling in my favorite toy, my Rubicon Jeep.

My inspiration:
For too long, I subscribed to the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) and as a result I have had health problems and have become over weight.  I don’t want to let my health stand in the way of my happiness and my ability to enjoy life.  I also want to set a better example to for my family.  Over the past 10 years, I have tried various diets and exercise plans but I can’t seem to make anything stick.  Like many people, I am great for a few weeks and then fall off the wagon.  Recently, I read Jeff Olson’s Slight Edge and it all became so obvious.  It has taken 35 years to get to where I am and it is going to take small consistent changes to turn my health around.  I don’t need to gut the pantry and hit the gym eight days a week in order to accomplish my goals.  What I do need to do is make small smart decisions each day that will eventually lead to huge results.  Creating Miss Habits is my way of staying organized with my goals, helping others, and being accountable.  And so, I am really excited that you have chosen to follow, support, and join my journey!!

My promise:
First, each week I will post a healthy habit on Saturday that we can begin to implement on the following Monday.  That gives us a day or two if we need to prepare mentally, physically, or just get organized for what is coming next.  Second, I will post to IG and FB daily updates on progress.  And lastly, I will be 100% candid and honest.  This will not be a highlight reel about my life.  If it’s good you’ll know about it and if it’s bad you’ll know about it.  In fact, to start off the honesty, I will be posting the results of my recent blood work and body fat percentage as soon as I get them back from my doctor.  I hope an honest approach will be relatable and more importantly humorous.  If we can’t laugh at ourselves then this process will be way to painful.  :)

My disclaimers:
I am not a doctor.
I am not a personal trainer or fitness expert.
I am not a nutritionist.
I am not even a great writer.  Hahaha.  You can expect some questionable grammar here and there!
I am not a morning person.  My version of posting early is 9am PST since I work in the evenings and at night.
Never take my word for anything.  If you have questions, do some quick research.  My plan is to post WHAT to do and some ideas on HOW to do it.  I won’t always post the WHY.  However, I will try to references that inspire why I am choosing the habits I chose.  We are all busy and there is a lot of info to sift through on the internet and so (after this post) I plan to keep it short and to the point!

My big finish:

Well, if you have read this far into the post, I have a feeling that you will be a dedicated supporter!  I want to hear from you!  Leave comments, post to social media with #misshabits.  Let’s support each other and lift each other up everyday!  Whether we like it or not, each day we are moving closer or father away from our goals.  From today on, let’s make everyday a tiny step toward to our goals.  Together, we can start a movement for change in our lives and those we love.  Let’s become the best version of US, one habit at a time!
